steps to install sqlserver 2017

Hello Friend's

In This post we will discuss Sql server 2017 installation on windows server 2016

Enviornment used : 

Os       : Windows server 2016 Evaluation edition 
database : Sqlserver 2017 Evaluation edition 
Os user  : sqladmin

Step 1 : Mount the iso file for sqlserver 2017 and run the setup.exe file to get the below screen

Step 2 :Click on Installation in right pane and select 1st option on left side(New sqlserver)

Step 3 : I have selected a free edition , you can put down a key if you have 

Step 4 : Click on i accept and click next

Step 5 : All things are clear so click next

Step 6 : Select the features you need , i have skipped R ,Python, and Polybase as it has no  use in testing , Provide the location of installation i have used D:\

Step 7 : Select if you need an Default instance or names one 

Step 8 : You can have the NT user for all but in my case i have seleted the user i created             diff from administrator for Sqlserver installtion (sqladmin),

         Check with client for the collation and set it as per the request

Step 9 : Select for between windows and sql authentication , i would suggest to go for mixed  mode as shown below 

Step 10 : Data directories by default its in C but i have changes it to D exclusive for      sqlserver 

Step 11 : Server configuration 

Step 12 : No changes required click next

Step 13 : No changes required click next

Step 14 : Add user and click next 

Step 15 : Provide the controller name and click next 

Step 16 : Review the preinstall summary and click on install

Step 17 : Progress for the installation 

Step 18 : Installation completed 

Steps for SSMS Install : 

Step 1  : Download it from microsoft site SSMS 18.5 , Provide the directory to install

Step 2 : Progress of installation 

Step 3 : SSMS installation completed

Step 4 : Start ssms from start menu 

Installation completes here ,Hope this helps
